India highlights Morocco's economic, political achievements

New Delhi - Indian Foreign Minister Samanahalli Mallaiah Krishna commended the major constitutinal reforms announced by HM the King in a speech on March 9, highlighting the uniqueness of Morocco's economic and political experience.


The Indian official, who was speaking on Thursday during talks with his Moroccan peer Taib Fassi Fihri, also saluted the large-scale reforms launched in Morocco under the leadership of HM the King at the political, economic and social levels.


Fassi Fihri, for his part, told MAP that the talks focused on the means to boost bilateral economic cooperation in addition to other international issues, including the Ivorian crisis and the situation in several Arab countries.


With the approach of the vote on a Security Council resolution on the Sahara issue, Morocco’s territorial integrity was at the heart of the meeting, given that India is a non-permament member of the Council, Fassi Fihri added.


In this connection, he said India supports the negotiation process, which was launched thanks to Morocco’s autonomy initiative.


In another meeting, the Moroccan official discussed with Vice-President of the Indian Senate the means to promote relations between the legisltaive institutions of the two countries.


Fassi Fihri arrived in New Delhi on Wednesday for an official two-day visit. (MAP)
